I don’t really like the quiet moments. It makes me want to fill the void. But you like them; and I’m learning to love them. Those moments that I thought to be ordinary but prove vital.
In the many times that we are together during this pandemic, I would ask you the same thing over, “Are you okay?” You would usually respond in the affirmative. But one day, you responded in such a way that left me in awe, “Yes, enjoying the peace.” You said this while holding me, right at the same time that I would find the silence all too bothersome.
I’m learning to love the quiet moments. These same moments where we could hear each other’s breathing; I live for them and the peace you said you found in me. These quiet moments, they keep me sane now.
